Anonymous Donations

Welcome to our comprehensive FAQ guide on anonymous donations, designed to navigate the nuances of accepting and managing anonymous donations. Here, you'll find essential insights tailored to help your organization embrace the unique aspects and opportunities of anonymous giving.

What are anonymous donations?

Anonymous donations allow donors to contribute to your organization without revealing their identity. This can be an appealing option for donors who prefer privacy or wish to avoid public acknowledgment.

How does a donor make their donation anonymous in the donation form?

Donors can easily make their contributions anonymous by selecting the 'Make donation anonymous' option on the donation form. This action omits personal information from the donation record in the Dashboard.

Can I disable anonymous donations?

To enable/disable this feature, reach out to support@thegivingblock.com. Please note, if you enable anonymous donations, it applies to all donation types uniformly.

Can anonymous donors receive tax receipts?

Anonymous donors are still eligible to receive tax receipts. They can provide an email address to receive their receipt and claim the donation on their taxes.  If they're choosing to remain anonymous and forgo receiving a tax receipt they are choosing to forfeit the tax benefits.

Are there any benefits to accepting anonymous donations?

We find that clients that allow anonymous gifts receive significantly more donations. A lot of this is driven by younger donors who don't want to give out their personal information or perhaps just enjoy the convenience of being able to skip that part of the donation process to make things faster.

Will We See Anonymous Donations in Our Dashboard?

All transactions are viewable in the Dashboard so even if the donor is anonymous, you can still see the transaction, providing transparency and traceability.

For more information on how to view your donations in the Dashboard, please visit our Transaction Detail or Transaction CSV Report articles.

How do we thank anonymous donors?

Even if a donor's identity is unknown, you can always show your gratitude and express the impact their donation made to your mission by providing a general thank you message on your social media platforms.

For example you can write: "Thank you to the anonymous crypto donor who allowed us to do XYZ", they're likely to see it. Embrace stewardship from afar!

Will we receive a Form 8282 for anonymous donations?

If a donation is anonymous, there will not be a Form 8282 link available for your organization.
